If you have been reading along for a while now, you would know that I love to travel, have a boyfriend called Jay and occasionally fly to London for work. Well, that is all well and good, but it only makes up for a small percentage of who I am.
Focusing all my time on sharing simple travel guides as proved to be helpful for my readers but is becoming entirely impersonal. I don’t know about you, but the people I choose to follow closer on social media are those I have made a connection with based on common interests and personality quirks.
Alas, a new tab as appeared on my blog this morning, under the familiar title of “lifestyle. I have decided to share more about me through recipes, silly fun facts and a few more light-hearted articles.
Fun Fact 1: I’m an ARIES
I don’t know about you, but I am slowly starting to see the pattern between different people I meet and their star sign. A load of bull? I’ll leave that up to your digression. Regardless, my star sign is and always will be ( umm, duh) ARIES! Aries are often explained as born leaders, spontaneous, no-bullshit, loyal, sensitive, opinionated and can be the sweetest person OR your worst nightmare. Jay will agree with the last three 😉
Fun Fact 2: I am an advocate for Autism
This isn’t by title. I don’t wear a badge or work for a charity. I call myself an advocate because it is what I naturally do. Autism awareness is something I am very passionate about and will continue to promote throughout my entire life. If I were to stop travelling and settle in one area, this is the job I would seek out. Have questions about this? Leave them in the comments below.
Fun Fact 3: I use to run a Sunday School
Yes, this is true. I was the Ned Flanders of kids church. I did this for a few years from the age of 19-22 and loved it. It wasn’t a little church either. After going to church for the first time at the age of 13, I devoted my time to the Church community and becoming the best version of me for the next nine years of my life. When I was 22, I left the church (but that is another story) but still look back on those years with gratitude.
Fun Fact 4: I use to live on an island
True story. Growing up my dad and sister lived on an Island called Scotland Island. I lived there up until the age of 2 but spent a lot of time there growing up. It was a pretty fun experience visiting them on weekends. We would jump off the jetty, go fishing, ride in canoes and wander the island like little menaces. The drinking water was a little gross, and you had to get a boat to the mainland if you wanted to buy anything, but I loved it.
Fun Fact 5: I have a phobia of people chewing
Okay, I wouldn’t say phobia but the sound of people chewing is enough to turn a good day into a bad day. I just don’t understand how some people sound like their mouth is home to 10 litres of water, washing around with every bite. Just DONT!
Fun Fact 6: We live in a house WAY too big for us
Funny story. We thought we were ready to settle down recently and got ourselves a three bedroom house for rent on the Sunny Coast. Considering it was the same price as our tiny unit in Sydney, it didn’t break the bank BUT, 4/6 rooms in the house are empty. True. We furnished the living room and our bedroom, and that is it.
Does anyone want to move in?
Fun Fact 7: I hate feet
My toes curled over as soon as I wrote the word feet. I’m not sure where this hatred has come from, but I instantly hide my feet the moment shoes, toes, feet or legs are mentioned in conversation. I hate them. I hate them on me, I hate them on other people, and I especially don’t want anyone touching them. gross.
Fun Fact 8: I was meant to be called Rebecca
Sneaky little addition to my name, Louise was never intended to be on my birth certificate. I can’t recall the story exactly, but let’s just go with Dad won. My mum will still call me Rebecca Belle, at times. I now have four names: Louise Rebecca Belle Brady but Dad just calls me “boo”.
Fun Fact 9: I don’t like avocado
I can hear the sound of people unsubscribing. I don’t hate it and will happily dig into some guac and chips, but there is something gooey and gross about consuming avocado in any other way. I’ve tried, people! In sushi, on toast, in a salad? No thanks!
Fun Fact 10: No series can beat How I Met Your Mother.
Debate me on this, its fine. I think there may be a few running a very close second, but I just can’t get enough of HIMYM.
So there you have it. 10 things you wouldn’t have known about me, until now.
Now it’s your turn: Share a fun fact about yourself in the comments below.
