Looking for a luxury hotel stay by the beach? The Sage Hotel in Wollongong is the perfect spot for you. Whether you’re searching for a romantic room for two, family stay or business trip, this immaculate hotel will be sure to provide you with what you’re looking for.
When we arrived at The Sage Hotel Wollongong, we were greeted with a warm welcome, the exciting atmosphere of a wedding function and the delightful news of an upgrade. The staff were well presented, professional and friendly- the perfect reflection of what was to come.
We found ourselves on the 10th level of the building, in one of the executive suites with a balcony view. The first thing I noticed about our room was the amount of natural light and space, which is always an enormous tick in my mental grading system (lets be honest, we all do it). But it was the small details of the room that made me see the amount of effort and care that is invested into the Sage Hotel. From the personalized greeting cards to the detailed hotel manual provided in the room, there wasn’t an I undotted or a T uncrossed.

But is breakfast included?
Yes, my friends, it was! Breakfast was served in The Five Island Room, presented as self service buffet overlooking Wollongong’s pristine beach. The buffet included everything from your traditional bacon and eggs to a delicious ‘well-being’ stand full of nuts, seeds, muesli and more. Knowing we would be writing about our experience, we were sure to try a little bit of everything. I loaded one plate up with tropical fruits, yoghurt, seeds and granola and the other plate with poached eggs, spinach and toast. Jay tried the sausages, pancakes and bacon. After finishing off our several plates, coffee and fresh juice, we both decided that it had been the best hotel breakfast we had experienced.

The Hotels Facilities….
When booking a hotel, Jay and I always pay close attention to the hotel’s facilities. There are a few things we consider to be a necessity with our type of travel and that is high functioning and room accessible wifi as well as some form of leisure/relaxation, such as a pool. Lucky for us, the Sage Hotel ticked both of those boxes with high-speed internet, a 40 inch flat screen TV within our room, fitness centre, relaxing bar area and outdoor pool area. Of course, the hotel also provided the usual room facilities, such as a safe, mini bar, basic toiletries, coffee/tea, foxtel option as well as free to air tv.

During our stay, a wedding was unfolding on the property. We caught glimpse of the flower girls and exceptionally dressed guests. We were unable to take photos (of course) but were guided around a few of the meeting rooms by a staff member who was setting up for a school retreat. Being the girl with the million questions, I asked about the type of functions and meetings that usually take place within the hotel. Just that week, the hotel became the reception of a wedding, high tea, civil ceremony, 21st, school retreat and a few board meetings. As you can see, it is one name with many roles.
