Sydney’s Vivid Festival is an outdoor light festival that is hosted every year from the end of May to Mid June (may 27th-june 18th)
Not only is it one of the most immaculate and aesthetically pleasing event in Sydney but it gives sydney-siders an excuse to peal themselves away from the heaters ( i write this as i am rugged up next to my heater, moaning that i ‘cant believe how cold it is’, despite the fact i survived an entire year of this temperature and below in London) and get out and about.
In my experience, there is three ways to enjoy Vivid. City Light shows, Vivid Music scene and Vivid at the Zoo.
1. Vivid LIGHTS
From the famous harbour lights, hanging tonic bottles, to the enchanted garden, vivid light festival has it all. Majority of the events running from 6:00pm-11:00pm.
Our first trip into Vivid, we headed straight for Circular Quay to catch a glimpse of the forever changing sails on the Opera House.
2. Vivid MUSIC
This year, the likes of Bon Iver, Bjork and New Order hit the stage during the annual vivid festival. Each year, the list of music events will be uploaded to their website vividmusic to help you plan your visit. With live gigs scattered across the entire of Sydney, there will be something for everyone, every night of the week.
3. Vivid at the ZOO
For the first time, this year vivid took the Taronga Zoo. I found out about this when my entire class simultaneously arrived to Kindy, super excited that they had been, or was going to ‘VIVID AT THE ZOO’. Of course, i had to go. For as cheap as 17.95 (adults) i was locked in for a night of awe inspiring light creations.
