Canal Cruise and Heineken Tour

During our time in Amsterdam, we were fortunate enough to experience many of the cities tours and top attractions. On Tuesday, our first day in Amsterdam, we spent our day learning about Holland’s beer heritage, enjoying complimentary Heineken at their rooftop bar and marveling at the view during our twilight cruise around the beautiful canals.

IMG_4512 IMG_4515We had a fantastic day visiting the Heineken experience and were caught off guard by how much fun we had. The beginning of the tour takes you through the heritage of Hollands iconic beer, teaching you about how it begun and rapidly grew over the years. You can watch as the design of the Heineken changes and develops and learn about the brewing process. I was shocked to learn how much of the Heineken is made up of water.  The experience is very interactive, allowing you to participate in pouring your own beer, play a number of games,  receive emails of your photos along the way and even become ‘beer’… yes, i said you become beer… ( You;ll have to see for yourself)

The Canal cruise asks you to arrive half an hour before your scheduled time, to ensure you check in and choose your food for the evening.  The cruise around the Canals is exceptionally beautiful and worth every penny. As i enjoyed my many wines, i marveled at the site of Amsterdam’s top attractions like the Skinny Bridge. the National Monument, the Royal Palace and of course, the many UNESCO World Heritage-listed canals.
The staff on board were all very lovely and never let your glass become empty. The food was delicious and provided by NewYork Pizza. The atmosphere was great and music well suited.
Many people have refer to sunset as the ‘golden hours’ of your day and i couldn’t agree more, this sunset cruise showed off the city in a new light and really was the golden hours of my day.
